Rustic Cabin
625 sq. ft. space
The challenge here was to create a usable space within a very small footprint.
I was careful to keep it simple by choosing a neutral color palette and sparse furnishings. The cabin feels clean with a modern kitchen, lighting and fixtures, but still reads as rustic with the beams and original wood floor. Of course, a cabin isn't complete without a cast iron tub! And the overstuffed couch, vintage chairs, and framed maps and lithographs complete the design.
Happy accident: I hadn't originally planned to introduce modern elements in my design until I rendered the kitchen. I was surprised by the high gloss finish on the cabinets, but I loved the juxtaposition with the rough-hewn wood.
