Modern Scandinavian Condo
925 sq. ft. open living space
After creating a spate of darker, more masculine environments, I wanted to challenge myself to do something lighter and more neutral. This design imagines a contemporary Scandinavian portside condominium with wrap-around deck and lots of windows.
I combined warm beiges and browns with bright whites, and integrated geometric patterns for visual interest. I also had fun mixing textures and materials including boucle fabrics, woven rattan, leather, woods, and stone. I love the juxtaposition of natural materials and contemporary finishes and fixtures.
Happy accident: I labored over the search for unusual lights in the kitchen and found the perfect taupe, nautical-inspired pendants. When I rendered the design, I discovered the metal finish was copper instead of stainless steel. I liked them so much that I incorporated a few more copper accents throughout the space.
